2010 SAG Awards

Okay. The Screen Actors Guild Awards are maybe not that big of a deal in the television world, or even the media world in general (unless, of course, you are part of the Screen Actors Guild). BUT, it is actors judging actors and they do occasionally nominate people that the larger ceremonies overlook. That is not so much the case this year, but hey.

Here are the television noms:

Actress in a Drama Series:
Patricia Arquette of “Medium”
Glenn Close of “Damages”
Mariska Hargitay of “Law & Order, SVU”
Holly Hunter of “Saving Grace”
Julianna Marguilies of “The Good Wife”
Kyra Sedgwick of “The Closer”

Personally, I’d like to see Julianna Marguilies win, if for no other reason than she’s new to this group of oft-nominated talented ladies.

Actor in a Drama Series
Simon Baker of “The Mentalist”
Bryan Cranston of “Breaking Bad”
Michael C. Hall of “Dexter”
Jon Hamm of “Mad Men”
Hugh Laurie of “House”

MICHAEL C. HALL! MICHAEL C. HALL! Or Bryan Cranson. But please for the love of god not Jon Hamm or Hugh Laurie (not because they are undeserving, but because they do not need to dominate the field indefinitely).

Actress in a Comedy Series
Christina Applegate of “Samantha Who”
Toni Colette of “United States of Tara”
Edie Falco of “Nurse Jackie”
Tina Fey of “30 Rock”
Julia Louis-Dreyfus of “The New Adventures of Old Christine”

I honestly do not care.

Actor in a Comedy Series
Alec Baldwin of “30 Rock”
Steve Carell of “The Office”
Larry David of “Curb Your Enthusiasm”
Tony Shaloub of “Monk”
Charlie Sheen of “Two and a Half Men”

Last season of Monk…maybe that will be enough to defeat the juggernaut that is Alec Baldwin on 30 Rock? Maybe?

Drama Ensemble
The Closer
Dexter
The Good Wife
Mad Men
True Blood

Ummmmmmmmdon’t really care.

Comedy Ensemble
30 Rock
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Glee
Modern Family
The Office

Try really hard to see if you can guess who I’m rooting for in this category. Hint: GLEE! GLEE BY SO MUCH! AAAAH!

There are a couple of other television-related categories involving Miniseries and stunt work, but I don’t feel like I have much to do with those so…yeah. Look it up if you’re curious I guess.

Anyway, the SAGs are airing on both TNT and TBS on Saturday January 23 at 8pm ET/PT (7pm for CT, 6pm for MT, and if you’re not in the US I can’t help you).
