This Week 1/17 to 1/22

Well, the Golden Globes are tonight. I’ll see about doing a post on that. Maybe. For now, the schedule for the coming week. Woo.

MONDAY:
8pm – Chuck on NBC (midseason return!)
8pm – House on FOX
8pm – Pretty Little Liars on ABC Family
9pm – The Cape on NBC
9pm – Lie to Me on FOX
9pm – Being Human on SyFy (series pilot!)
10pm – Hawaii Five-0 on CBS
10pm – Harry’s Law on NBC (series pilot!)

I should probably just take House off of my schedule. I’m not watching it and, from what I hear, that’s not a terrible loss.

TUESDAY:
8pm – NCIS on CBS
9pm – NCIS: Los Angeles on CBS
10pm – Southland on TNT
10pm – White Collar on USA

I have now removed V, Detroit 1-8-7, and No Ordinary Family from my schedule. Because, honestly, it just isn’t gonna happen. Ever.

WEDNESDAY:

Oh great. American Idol is starting again. (Bones marathon on TNT or NCIS marathon on USA? I think so.)

THURSDAY:
9pm – Bones on FOX (midseason return!)
10pm – Fairly Legal on USA (series pilot!)

Thank goodness for this Thursday!

FRIDAY:
9pm – Fringe on FOX (midseason return!)

…you’ve got to be shitting me. Fringe‘s Friday Death Slot premiere is titled “Firefly“? Can we spell “death sentence”? Jesus.

SATURDAY:

Nothing new is airing.

This Week 1/3 to 1/9

MONDAY:
8pm – Pretty Little Liars on ABC Family (midseason return!)
10pm – Castle on ABC (midseason return!)
10pm – Hawaii Five-0 on CBS (midseason return!)

This week’s episode of Castle brought to you by the excellent and intriguing title “Nikki Heat.” It’s gonna be a good ‘un.

TUESDAY:
8pm – No Ordinary Family  on ABC (midseason return!)
9pm – V on ABC (season premiere!)
10pm – Detroit 1-8-7 on ABC (midseason return!)
10pm – Southland on TNT (season premiere!)

Except I actually don’t watch any of these. Maybe I should take them off my schedule…

WEDNESDAY:
8pm – Human Target on FOX (2-hour midseason return!)

Also, there’s a Bones marathon on TNT.

THURSDAY:

Nothing new is airing.

FRIDAY:
9pm – CSI: NY on CBS (midseason return!)

SATURDAY:
11:30pm – Saturday Night Live (Jim Carrey and the Black Keys) on NBC (midseason return!)

SUNDAY:
9pm – The Cape on NBC (2-hour series pilot!)
9:30pm – Episodes on Showtime (series pilot!)
10pm – Shameless on Showtime (series pilot!)

Tis the Midseason

It’s that time again. Midseason return/premiere schedule. Go!

Monday January 3
8:00pm – Pretty Little Liars on ABC Family (midseason return!)
10:00pm – Castle on ABC (midseason return!)
10pm – Hawaii Five-0 on CBS (midseason return!)

Hey, I could actually catch up on time to watch PLL! But that really doesn’t matter because I’m mostly just SUPER jazzed about more Castle.

Tuesday January 4
8:00pm – No Ordinary Family on ABC (midseason return!)
9:00pm – V on ABC (season premiere!)
10:00pm – Detroit 1-8-7 on ABC (midseason return!)
10:00pm – Southland on TNT (season premiere!)

…I probably will not actually watch anyof these. But I thought I’d include them just for kicks. (Question: Should I be watching No Ordinary Family?)

Wednesday January 5
8:00pm – Human Target on FOX (midseason return!)

Happy half-birthday to me!

Friday January 7
9:00pm – CSI: NY on CBS (midseason return!)
10:00pm – Blue Bloods on CBS (midseason return!)

Sunday January 9
9:00pm – The Cape on NBC (2-hour series pilot!)
9:30pm – Episodes on Showtime (series pilot!)
10:00pm – Shameless on Showtime (series pilot!)

Not gonna lie, all three of these shows look semi-ridiculous. The Cape is about a cop who gets framed and goes all caped vigilante on his city and, honestly, it looks even stupider than it sounds. Episodes is about Matt LeBlanc (playing himself) ruining the marriage of a British couple. And Shameless is just the newest in a long line of excellent British shows being stolen for and ruined on American television.

Monday January 10
9:00pm – Lie to Me on FOX (midseason return!)

Tuesday January 11
8:00pm – NCIS on CBS (midseason return!)
9:00pm – NCIS: Los Angeles on CBS (midseason return!)
10:00pm – Lights Out on FX (series pilot!)

In Lights Out, a former heavy-weight boxing champ starts working as a debt collector to make ends meet. Doesn’t pique my interest, but FX’s original series track record is pretty good and so should this be.

Wednesday January 12
10:00pm – Off the Map on ABC (series pilot!)

Basically it’s Grey’s Anatomy, but without indoor plumbing.

Monday January 17
8:00pm – Chuck on NBC (midseason return!)
8:00pm – House on FOX (midseason return!)
9:00pm – Being Human on SyFy (series pilot!)
10:00pm – Harry’s Law on NBC (series pilot!)

Being Human is another of those ripped-off Brit shows. Harry’s Law is a legal drama with an incredible cast that will most likely be at least fairly decent…but, frankly, I’d just rather have The Whole Truth back. (Oh, wait, wrong network…) Also…I can totally catch up on Chuck by this day…right?

Tuesday January 18
10:00pm – White Collar on USA (midseason return!)

I’m getting the impression that this show has only gotten better. I should work on catching up at some point.

Thursday January 20
8:00pm – Bones on FOX (midseason return!)
8:30pm – Perfect Couples on NBC (series pilot!)
10:00pm – Fairly Legal on USA (series pilot!)

Perfect Couples comes from minds behind 30 Rock and Friends. Fairly Legal stars Sarah Shahi and Michael Trucco and I have been waiting for it for two years. So guess which of these two shows is the one I’m going to be watching.

Friday January 21
9:00pm – Fringe on FOX (midseason return!)

Oh shit guys, Fringe has been relegated to the Friday Death Slot.

Wednesday January 26
10:00pm – Face Off on SyFy (series pilot!)

Normally I avoid competition/reality shows like the plague. But a competition/reality show about special effects makeup? Hell yes!

Thursday January 27
8:00pm – The Vampire Diaries on the CW (midseason return!)
9:00pm – Nikita on the CW (midseason return!)

Monday February 7
9:00pm – The Chicago Code on FOX (series pilot!)

It’s just another cop show, but it’s shot on location in Chicago and really wants to be the next hardxcoreawesome thing.

Tuesday February 8
8:00pm – Glee on FOX (midseason return!)

Wednesday February 9
9:30pm – Mr. Sunshine on ABC
10:00pm – Justified on FX

Mr. Sunshine sounds like an awful everyman semi-comedy indie film come to television. But more glamourous because, well, that’s just how it works.

Monday February 28
10:00pm – The Event on NBC (midseason return!)

Tuesday March 29
9:00pm – Body of Proof on ABC (series pilot!)

Crime procedural slash personal drama centered around an M.E. It could easily be interesting and fun. It could just as easily be awful and boring.

Wednesday April 6
9:30pm – Breaking In on FOX (series pilot!)

Oh look, Christian Slater‘s back. Again. Trying to make it as a television leading man. Again.

Wednesday April 13
10:00 – Happy Endings on ABC (series pilot!)

It’s another of these melodramedies about attractive young people and their romantic shenanigans. But I will admit, it has a pretty good cast.

This Week 4/5 to 4/10

So I really slacked off last week. That is a bad thing. The good thing that counteracts it is, I realized that the reason I’m not as dedicated to posting as once was the case is because I’m bored of doing the same thing every week. SO, I came up with a couple new ideas for posts that are more in the spirit of the late great Pineapple post (read: not especially relevant, but entertaining for me to compile/write).

Look for my up-to-speed perspective on The Vampire Diaries later this week, as well as Hindsight: BSG (no, really!). And other delightful things in weeks to come. In addition to the usual reviews.

Tonight:
8pm – Chuck on NBC
8pm – 24 on FOX (two-hour event!)
9pm – Trauma on NBC
10pm – Castle on ABC

So excited for Chuck and Castle this week! The first one because events from last week ought to make it super intriguing. The second because it’s Castle-does-Indiana-Jones and that is sure to be awesome.

TUESDAY:
8pm – NCIS on CBS
9pm – NCIS: Los Angeles on CBS
9pm – Lost on ABC
10pm – V on ABC
10pm – Southland on TNT
10pm – Justified on FX

TNT is actually airing all the new (as in, never aired on NBC) episodes of Southland consecutively this afternoon/evening if you’ve got some hours to spare and interest in/need of catching up.

WEDNESDAY:
8pm – Human Target on FOX
10pm – CSI: NY on CBS

THURSDAY:
8pm – FlashForward on ABC
8pm – The Vampire Diaries on CW
8pm – Bones on FOX
9pm – Fringe on FOX
10pm – Project Runway on Lifetime

It’s the 100th episode of Bones!!! It flashes back to the very first Booth-and-Brennan team-up. Very exciting to see how that all happened. Plus, bonus: it (hopefully) means the return of Zach…and maybe Dr. Goodman too!

FRIDAY:
10pm – Miami Medical on CBS

…I really ought to go watch the pilot of this show.

SATURDAY:
11:30pm – Saturday Night Live (Tina Fey and Justin Bieber) on NBC

Tina Fey is most likely going to be INCREDIBLY AWESOME. So why someone thought that musical guest would be a good match I have no idea. But I would like to find that person and ask them. Forcefully.

Good stuff this week, but better next week because…GLEE IS FINALLY GOING TO BE BACK WITH NEW EPISODES! AAAAAAAAH! (So. Excited.)

Enjoy your week!

This Week 3/29 to 4/3

Tonight:
8pm – Chuck on NBC
9pm – Trauma on NBC
9pm – 24 on FOX
10pm – Castle on ABC

Exciting stuff tonight. Like the second part of last week’s super-intense cliff-hangering Castle (I’m betting on a kidnap scenario), or the first installment of Chuck-Is-Actually-A-Badge-Toting-Spy-Now on Chuck (sadly, I’m betting there’s gonna be more of the show’s signature hem-and-haw-shying-away-from-real-progress – $20 says Chuck is never going to Rome).

Btw, today SyFy is airing V The Original Series all day.

TUESDAY:
9pm – Lost on ABC
10pm – V on ABC
10pm – Southland on TNT
10pm – Justified on FX

And more V-prime on SyFy, including “V: The Final Battle” which is airing at 4, 6, and 8pm.

WEDNESDAY:
8pm – Human Target on FOX

THURSDAY:
8pm – FlashForward on ABC
8pm – The Vampire Diaries on CW
8pm – Bones on FOX
9pm – Fringe on FOX

Yes! FOX Thursday is back this week! (I guess that means I should try to catch up on Fringe…)

FRIDAY:
10pm – Miami Medical (series pilot!) on CBS

It’s Jerry Bruckheimer’s foray into the world of medical dramas – because, yes, ladies and gentlemen, the television world is still short one ER replacement. Will this be it? Good cast, but it’s getting slotted in at 10pm Friday. Don’t hold your breath.

SATURDAY:
Nothing new is airing tonight.

This Week 3/22 to 3/27

Hey, there’s stuff on the television this week!

Tonight
8pm – Chuck on NBC
9pm – Trauma on NBC
9pm – 24 on FOX
10pm – Castle on ABC

Tonight’s new episode of Castle is being advertised by ABC as a “Television Event”…one that follows ABC’s other “Television Event” for tonight, the 2-hour season premiere of Dancing With the Stars. Does this seem something like hyperbolic overkill? Yes. But, does tonight’s new episode look REALLY exciting? Also a yes.

TUESDAY
9pm – Lost on ABC
10pm – V on ABC
10pm – Southland on TNT
10pm – Justified on FX

Man, I do not know when ABC became my most frequently viewed network. (Lie. It was when ABC started to air three billion sci-fi shows.) Also interesting: 10pm on Tuesday is suddenly a semi-competitive timeslot. Huh?

WEDNESDAY
Nothing new is airing tonight.

Dear Wednesday, suck less.

THURSDAY
8pm – FlashForward on ABC
8pm – The Vampire Diaries on CW
10pm – Project Runway on Lifetime

Craaaap I thought I had more time to finish catching up on The Vampire Diaries. Alas.

FRIDAY
9pm – Caprica on SyFy

Other things I really ought to catch up on one of these days: Caprica

SATURDAY
Nothing new is airing tonight.

Y’know, about ten minutes ago (read: when I started this post) I was feeling really good about last week. Now I’m realizing exactly how not up-to-date I am and it’s pretty humbling. At least it means I’ve been spending time doing real things in the real world? (Lie. Blame it on Buffy Season Six DVDs.)

OH WELL. MISSION: CATCH UP (I will find time!)

This Week 3/15 to 3/20

Last week is much more how I like things to go for TV and Melted Brain – let’s see if this can become a pattern!

MONDAY
8pm – Chuck on NBC
8pm – House on FOX
9pm – Trauma on NBC
9pm – 24 on FOX

No new Castle this week. ABC is being a bitchwhore and alternating new and old. Further unfortunate news: this week’s repeat is “A Rose for Everafter.”

TUESDAY
8pm – NCIS on CBS
9pm – NCIS: Los Angeles on CBS
9pm – Lost on ABC
10pm – FlashForward (recap of the season) on ABC
10pm – Southland on TNT
1opm – Justified (pilot!) on FX

Justified is a new series starring Timothy Olyphant as a US Marshal with a dark past. Strong Western-genre themes and badassery are a promise.

WEDNESDAY
8pm – Human Target on FOX

THURSDAY
8pm – FlashForward (2-hour mid-season premiere!) on ABC
10pm – Project Runway on Lifetime

Crap! I need to catch up on FlashForward NOW! Crap!

FRIDAY
9pm – Caprica on SyFy

SATURDAY
Nothing new is airing.

So before I started this and actually looked at what’s coming up this week I was going to say that my next project is catching up on Caprica. WRONG. SO wrong. FlashForward has now taken priority. I don’t remember how many episodes behind I am but I will be READY for Thursday.

I think a  Justified review is going to be the other major goal this week. Also, Lost review, because apparently that is the only thing people are almost as interested in as Glee.

This Week 3/8 to 3/13

Hey, so, the Oscars happened last night. (I didn’t watch them…) The world is more or less as it should be, because James Cameron got his ass handed to him. By the way, Avatar is not the top box office moneymaker of all time if you include inflation. Don’t believe me? Check ittt.

In other news that actually relates to Melted Brain, STUFF IS BACK! Shows are finally returning and it is pretty awesome.

Tonight:
8pm – Chuck on NBC
8pm – House on FOX
9pm – Trauma on NBC
9pm – 24 on FOX
10pm – Castle on ABC

Wow. Been awhile since I’ve had to choose what to watch. (Except really I don’t because I’m not caught up at all on Trauma or House so the “choice” is actually more of a given.)

TUESDAY:
8pm – NCIS on CBS
9pm – NCIS: Los Angeles on CBS
9pm – Lost on ABC
10pm – White Collar on USA
10pm – Southland on TNT

Remember, these are new, never-before-aired episodes of Southland. Mostly I’m just super excited for this week’s Lost because it is about BEN.

WEDNESDAY:
8pm – Human Target on FOX
10pm – CSI: NY on CBS

Wednesdays still sort of really suck.

THURSDAY:
10pm – Project Runway on Lifetime

…and Thursdays DO really suck (not even “sort of”). If you want anything to watch Thursday, SyFy is airing The Prestige starting at 9pm.

FRIDAY:
9pm – Caprica on SyFy

I will get caught up! I will! It’s just that I discovered yet another new show over the weekend…

SATURDAY:
11:30pm – Saturday Night Live (Jude Law and Pearl Jam) on NBC

Really do not care about Pearl Jam, but my one-sided love affair with Jude Law is still in full swing.

I guess the big news right now is that I have started watching a new show. It is…….The Vampire Diaries. Yeah, I know. I’m still sort of embarrassed about it. But seriously, it’s actually pretty good stuff. More on that as soon as I’m all caught up.

Also, this week will definitely include some more genuine reviewing because a) I realized that only one review per week is lame, and b) I miss it!

Enjoy your week.

This Week 3/1 to 3/7

The Olympics are over (congratulations, Canada!) and I’m all caught up with Lost WHICH MEANS, we will now return to our regularly scheduled viewing/reviewing program. I hope.

Tonight:
8pm – Chuck on NBC
9pm – 24 on FOX

Oh man, it’s weird to not have Heroes on Monday nights anymore…

TUESDAY:
8pm – NCIS on CBS
9pm – NCIS: Los Angeles on CBS
9pm – Lost on ABC
10pm – White Collar on USA
10pm – Southland on TNT

For those of you who haven’t heard, TNT is airing new episodes of Southland! What doesn’t work on network does sometimes work on cable (HINTHINTJOSSWHEDON).

WEDNESDAY:
10pm – CSI: NY on CBS

THURSDAY:
10pm – Project Runway on Lifetime

FRIDAY:
9pm – Caprica on SyFy

My next catch-up project is Caprica. It will not take nearly as long as Lost.

Because some shows have ended for the season (Heroes) and some have yet to return (because FOX insists on airing American Idol), the viewing schedule isn’t all full up. Probably a good thing. Enjoy your week.

This Week 9/22 to 9/28

21st Winter Olympics, week two. There is not a whole lot else going on.

Tonight:
9pm – 24 on FOX

TUESDAY:
9pm – Lost on ABC
10pm – White Collar on USA
10pm – Southland on TNT

WEDNESDAY:
Nothing new is airing.

THURSDAY:
Nothing new is airing.

FRIDAY:
9pm – Caprica on SyFy

SATURDAY:
11:30pm – Saturday Night Live (Jennifer Lopez) on NBC

Some of you may not the addition of Lost to my weekly schedule. I’m not caught up quite yet (just started Season Five) but I anticipate that I’ll be watching along with the rest of the world very shortly. Because it is completely ridiculous and I am completely addicted.

Also, much as I enjoy the Olympics, I will be glad to have them over so I can get my TV back again.

Enjoy your week.
